Abstract:
In order to study the effects of grooved filter on the sensory quality and style of cigarette and the effect of flavor compensation, six cigarette samples with different filters and different flavoring rates were prepared and panel tested. The results of sensory evaluation were statistically analyzed with analysis of variance and paired
T test, which indicated that:1) At the same flavoring rate, cigarette with a grooved filter was scored lower in the total sensory quality, especially in the dryness sensation at larynx, smoke concentration and strength.Grooved filter did not affect the general style of cigarette significantly, but it weakened the style intensity of cigarette.2) Properly increasing flavoring rate could obviously reduce the adverse effects of grooved filter on the dryness sensation at larynx and intensify the intensity of cigarette style, but could not affect its adverse effects on smoke concentration and strength. Therefore if a grooved filter is used to replace a mono acetate filter, integrated measures including tobacco leaf blending, flavor formulation and flavoring rate shall be taken to keep the quality and style of cigarette in consistency.
