Abstract:
In order to assess the effects of ethyl butyrate addition on cigarette smoke, ethyl butyrate was pyrolyzed under conditions simulated cigarette combustion.Cigarette samples added with different rates of ethyl butyrate were prepared, and the deliveries of seven harmful components, including carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide,NNK,BaP,crotonaldehyde, phenol and ammonia,in mainstream cigarette smoke were determined, the bacterial mutagenicity,
in vitro cytotoxicity and micronucleus testing of smoke particulate matter were conducted separately. The results showed that:1) The pyrolysis behavior of ethyl butyrate mainly was intact transfer under simulated cigarette combustion conditions.2) Comparing with the control cigarettes, the deliveries of the seven harmful components in mainstream smoke of tested cigarettes did not increase significantly.3) The results of bacterial mutagenicity,
in vitro cytotoxicity and micronucleus assays of smoke particulate matter did not change significantly after ethyl butyrate addition.
