Abstract:
In order to find out the effects of electrodialysis(ED) on the major salts in tobacco stem extract, the removal efficiencies of ED for four inorganic acid salts(chloride, nitrate, sulfate and phosphate),three metallic salts(potassium salt, magnesium salt and calcium salt) and three organic acid salts(malate, oxalate and citrate) were investigated. The results showed that:the removal efficiencies of ED for different kind salts differed, chloride, nitrate and potassium salts were removed more quickly;the order of removal rates for four inorganic acid salts was chloride >nitrate >sulphate >phosphate, for three metallic salts was potassium salt >magnesium salt >calcium salt, and for three organic acid salts was malate >oxalate >citrate.By regulating both chloride content and nitrate content in tobacco stem extract,ED further regulated the contents of chlorine and nitrate in reconstituted tobacco.
