Abstract:
Total of 1 963 patents (including invention patents and utility model patent) related to detection and test of tobacco and tobacco products were analyzed, which were applied during 1985 to 2013 and publicized by State Intellectual Property Office, all of them belonged to G01 in IPC (International Patent Classification). The results showed that: 1) The total number of G01 patent applications raised rapidly during 2005 to 2013, significantly the number of invention patents. The number and proportion of occupational invention patents rose gradually. The G01 patents applied by tobacco enterprises increased continuously, notably by the Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute of CNTC (ZTRI), China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Company Limited, China Tobacco Guangdong Industrial Company Limited, and Shanghai Tobacco Group Company Limited, among others. 2) 3 885 inventors involved in the 1 963 patents with the average of 6.0 inventors per patent. The inventors involved in more patents included Kong Haohui (China Tobacco Guangdong Industrial Company Limited), Hu Qingyuan (China National Tobacco Quality Supervision & Test Center) and Xie Fuwei (ZTRI). The frequent first inventors included Kong Haohui, Li Bin (ZTRI), Liao Huiyun (China Tobacco Jiangsu Industrial Company Limited) and Wei Yuling (China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Company Limited). 3) The majority of G01 patents related to chemical or physical testing or analyzing (G01N); and those related to geometrical quantity measurement (G01B), quality measurement (G01G, G01F) of tobacco and tobacco products were the next. 4) G01 patents mainly involved the detection of chemical and physical indices, which accounted for 41.72% and 25.71%, respectively. With the development of detection and analysis techniques, G01 patent applications will continuously increase and gradually cover all sub-categories, possibly, become a new technical development path.
