Abstract:
To understand the function of endophytes and its advances in tobacco, the interaction between endophytes and host plants, endophyte function on tobacco were reviewed. 1) The relationships between endophytes and host plants were described. Endophytes in host plants could be propagated through vertical or horizontal transmission, and there was a symbiotic or parasitic relationship between endophytes and host plants. 2) The specific functions of endophytes were introduced. Host plants could provide an appropriate living environment for endophytes. At same time, endophytes could improve the stress tolerance, growth and nitrogen fixation of host plants via gene recombination or information communication and promote the synthesis of secondary metabolites in host plants. 3) The studies concerning the effects of endophytes on tobacco were summarized, including promoting tobacco growth and anti-stress, reducing nicotine and heavy metal contents, enhancing aroma and stalk compost.
