Abstract: In order to reduce the failure rate and equipment cleaning time, an automatic cleaning device for SE tobacco rod conveying channel in ZJ112 cigarette maker was designed, wherein a pneumatic cylinder pushed a cutting knife to cut off the tobacco rod quickly, and compressed air was introduced into the front section of the microwave source and the U-shaped guide respectively to blown any residues off the microwave source channel when the machine was stopped. Based on the master PLC of ZJ112, the control system adopted backup input/output address and controlled cleaning process through programming. Test running was carried out on cigarette brand "Mount Tai(Red General)" in Jinan Cigarette Factory, the results showed that the quality of cigarettes was not affected by the installation of the said automatic cleaning device. The effective cleaning rate reached 98.61% after machine shutdown, and cleaning duration reduced by 10.4 s. The cleaning device decreases operators'labor intensity and promotes machine efficiency.
