Abstract:
In order to find out the effects of chemical components and tobacco composition in tobacco blend of cigarette on its sensory quality and style, the nitrogen/nicotine ratio, sugar/nitrogen ratio and sugar/nicotine ratio of nine tobacco blend and the tobacco grades which made up the tobacco blend were analyzed at the same time, their respective sensory quality and style were evaluated, and a classification method for tobacco leaves on the basis of nitrogen/nicotine ratio and sugar/nitrogen ratio was proposed. The results showed that:1) The nitrogen/nicotine ratio, sugar/nitrogen ratio and sugar/nicotine ratio of tobacco blends of cigarettes significantly influenced their sensory quality and style. 2) The variation of sensory style of tobacco blends of cigarettes closely correlated to their nitrogen/nicotine ratio. 3) The sensory quality of tobacco blends of cigarettes was determined by their sugar/nitrogen ratio, it promoted with the rise of sugar/nitrogen ratio at the same nitrogen/nicotine ratio, or the same style of tobacco blend of cigarette. 4) The proposed classification method could be used to assess the differences of chemical components and sensory quality style between different tobacco blends of cigarettes and guide tobacco blend adjustment or design.
