Abstract:
In order to investigate the variations of cut tobacco composition affected by pneumatic tobacco feeding and cigarette making of cigar type cigarette production, the effects of pneumatic tobacco feeding and cigarette making process on the proportion of cut stem in cut tobacco of a cigar type cigarette brand were studied. The results showed that:1) The proportion of cut stem in cut tobacco increased by 1.4 percentage points after pneumatic feeding, and the average variation rate was 7.4%. The proportion of cut stem raised generally after cigarette making with the average variation rate of 2.05%. The average variation rate of cut stem proportion was 9.60% after pneumatic feeding and cigarette making, mainly contributed by the former. 2) No significant difference in the variance of cut stem proportion was found between different sampling points, therefore pneumatic feeding and cigarette making process affected the proportion of cut stem, not its fluctuation. 3) The degree of difference in cut stem proportion after pneumatic feeding and cigarette making differed between cigarette makers, particularly between the cigarette makers of different types. The difference of cut stem proportion before cigarette making would be reflected by the finished cigarettes.
