Abstract:
In order to study the effects of cigarette paper permeability on the burning status of slim cigarettes, the burning temperature of slim cigarette samples with different cigarette paper permeability (30-80 CU) was experimentally analyzed via an in-house cigarette burning temperature tester. The results showed that:with the increase of cigarette paper permeability from 30 to 80 CU, 1) the draw resistance of unlit slim cigarette (
Runlit) decreased gradually and that of lit slim cigarette (
Rlit) decreased first and then increased, the transition happened at the permeability of 60 CU; 2) the average characteristic temperature (
T0.5) and volume (
V) of burning cone decreased first and then increased during puffing, the minimum emerged at 60 CU; 3) the average burning rate decreased first and then increased during puffing, the minimum appeared at 60 CU; 4) the maximum of highest temperature in burning cone (
Tmax) raised first and then lowered during puffing, the peak appeared at 70 CU.
