Abstract:
In order to improve the efficiency of cigarette case handling and reduce labor intensity, a system for sorting cigarette cases of different sizes was designed on the basis of networking barcode recognition technology. The system was composed of extensible belt conveyors, networking barcode readers, a cigarette case sorting line, a chute for diverting special size cases, and a manually palletizing station. The networking barcode readers were arranged to automatically identify the barcodes on the cigarette cases of special sizes, it made possible having those cases going through the same line together with the standard size cases and simplifying the cigarette case handling process. The cigarette cases including brand "Furongwang (hard packet, slim cigarette)" of special sizes were tested, the results showed that all cigarette cases of special sizes could be recognized and deposited by the designed system automatically, and the success rates of cigarette case recognizing and palletizing reached 100%. Comparing with hand-held barcode reader, the designed system reduced one operator and raised the depositing efficiency by 52%. This technology provides a support for improving the automation of tobacco logistics.
