Abstract:
To effectively detect and evaluate the factors and their contributions to the draw resistance consistency of cigarettes, a mathematical model for the standard deviation of draw resistance was established on the basis of linear network model. The contributions of draw resistance consistencies from different cigarette sections to the total draw resistance consistency were obtained via the established model. Cigarette samples of four circumferences were used to verify the model, and the experimental data were compared with the calculated data. The results showed that:1) The standard deviation model based on the linear network model featured a higher accuracy and could be used to evaluate the draw resistance consistency for cigarettes. 2) The key factors causing the fluctuation of draw resistance were mainly around ventilation section of filter. Increasing the filter ventilation uniformity or decreasing the filter ventilation rate promoted the draw resistance consistency. 3) With the decrease of standard deviation of draw resistance in filter ventilation section, the standard deviation of draw resistance of a whole cigarette reduced significantly. With the decrease of filter ventilation rate, the draw resistance of the whole cigarette increased, while its standard deviation decreased. Therefore, improving filter ventilation section promotes the draw resistance consistency of cigarettes.
