Abstract:
In order to accurately determine the amount of seam glue in cigarette tobacco rod, specifically for the seam glue containing 2, 2, 4-trimethyl-1, 3-pentanediol diisobutyrate (TXIB) plasticizer, a gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) method to measure the TXIB in unused seam glue and in cigarette rod applied seam glue was established. The results showed that: 1) The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the method for unused seam glue was 1.8% with the detection limit and quantitative limit of 0.75 and 2.50 μg/mL and the recoveries of 95.3%-103.1% respectively. 2) The RSD of method for applied seam glue on cigarette rod was 3.1% with the detection limit and quantitative limit of 0.26 and 0.86 μg/mL and the recoveries of 95.2%-105.1%. 3) This method featured a high precision, low detection limit and high accuracy, it was therefore considered suitable for determining the amount of seam glue in cigarette tobacco rod.
