Abstract:
To determine a suitable curing method for the dark sun-cured tobacco planted in Jilin Province and to improve its quality, the influences of three curing methods, including sun-curing in a plastic greenhouse, sun-curing with film mulching and traditional sun-curing, on the leaf economic traits, routine chemical components, aroma substances, tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) and sensory quality were investigated. The results showed that the single-leaf weight, yield and output value of the dark sun-cured tobacco leaves were significantly increased by sun-curing in the plastic greenhouse. The proportion of high-grade leaves and the average price of tobacco cured with this method were higher than those cured by the other two methods. The starch content was significantly decreased, while the sugar content and the ratio of sugar/nicotine were significantly increased for the dark sun-cured tobacco leaves cured in the plastic greenhouse. The contents of neutral and alkaline aroma substances and sensory quality of tobacco leaves cured in the plastic greenhouse were the highest, and those cured by traditional method were the lowest. The TSNAs contents in the treated leaves were also significantly lower under the plastic greenhouse sun-curing than those of the other two methods.
