Abstract:
To clarify the occurrence and cryptic species distribution of
Bemisia tabaci in Hainan tobacco-growing areas, the occurrences of
B. tabaci and tobacco leaf curl disease spread by
B. tabaci were surveyed by selecting 5 spots with Z-shaped location in Danzhou, Tunchang, Chengmai, Sanya, Ledong and Wuzhisan. The cryptic species of
B. tabaci specimens were identified by PCR-RFLP of mitochondrial
COI gene and phylogenetic analysis. The results showed that
B. tabaci could be found in all the surveyed sites except for Wuzhishan, and the population density was 0.5-10 adults per plant. The incidence of tobacco leaf curl disease spread by
B. tabaci was 1%-3%. The results of molecular identification indicated that the cryptic species of
B. tabaci on tobacco in Hainan were invasive cryptic species MEAM1 and MED, and MEAM1 was dominant species. MEAM1 was the only cryptic species in Danzhou, Tunchang, and Ledong. However, MED and MEAM1 were both found in Chengmai and Sanya, and MED accounted for 43.3% and 16.7% of the crypic species in Chengmai and Sanya respectively.
