Abstract:
In order to evaluate the softness of paper-making reconstituted tobacco(RT)and to investigate the differences in the softness of RT between different manufacturers and the influences of moisture content on the softness, a method based on texture analyzer was established and key parameters of the texture analyzer on the determination results were analyzed. The established method was used to test and evaluate different RT samples, and the results showed that:1)The optimal conditions of the texture analyzer for determining the softness of RT were spherical probe, pre-test speed 5 mm/s, pressing speed 2 mm/s, pressing distance 10 mm, and pulling up speed 25 mm/s. This method had good intra-day repeatability (RSD=6.637%,
n=10) and inter-day repeatability(RSD=3.237%,
n=5). 2)There were significant differences in the softness of the RT samples from different domestic and foreign manufacturers. 3)Moisture contents of RT significantly affected the softness, the higher the moisture content was, and the softer the RT was measured.
