Abstract:
In order to investigate the effects of cigarette paper parameters on the routine indexes of mainstream cigarette smoke and sensory quality of short cigarettes, short cigarettes made with cigarette paper with a range of air permeability, grammage, combustion improver content, potassium/sodium ratio in combustion improver, and calcium carbonate content were prepared. Mainstream smoke deliveries of selected chemical components and sensory quality of the short cigarettes were studied. The results showed:1) With the increase in the paper's air permeability, the deliveries of routine chemical components decreased and the sensor quality deteriorated. 2) With the increase in the paper's grammage, the deliveries of tar and nicotine decreased, CO delivery increased, and the sensory quality became worse. 3) With the increase in the combustion improver content in cigarette paper, the deliveries of routine chemical components decreased and the sensory quality deteriorated. With the increase of potassium/sodium ratio in the combustion improver, the deliveries of routine chemical components decreased and the sensory quality improved. 4) With the increase of calcium carbonate content in the cigarette paper, the deliveries of tar and CO decreased, nicotine delivery did not change significantly, and the sensory quality deteriorated. The optimization of the corresponding cigarette paper parameters could promote the sensory quality of short cigarettes and decrease the deliveries of tar and CO.
