Abstract:
In order to determine the flue-cured tobacco planting area at a county scale and to provide more accurate data for the production decision of flue-cured tobacco, the tobacco-planting area in Chaling County of Hunan Province was measured, and the effect of corresponding Sentinel-2A data gathered by remote sensing was investigated. The spectral characteristics and vegetation indices of flue-cured tobacco, trees, shrub grasslands, roads and water bodies in Chaling County in June 2019 were analyzed to extract the flue-cured tobacco planting area using decision tree classification. The precision verification results showed that, the overall precision of flue-cured tobacco planting area monitored in Chaling County by Sentinel-2A remote sensing data was 90.29%, with 3.7% error comparing with the actual planting area data obtained through direct investigation. Therefore, this method could meet the practical demands to extract flue-cured tobacco production areas.
