Abstract:
To reclaim tobacco more efficiently, the tobacco reclaiming device VAS (Vibratile Air Separator) cooling bed was modified by adding a first stage separator and a second stage separator. Cut tobacco is separated thoroughly from stems via adjusting the damping plates in the first and second separators. Meantime, the effect of tobacco reclaiming was numerically simulated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The modified device was tested on 17 batches of cigarettes of three "Yunyan" brands in Kunming Cigarette Factory. The results showed that the average weight of rejected stems reduced by 2.2 kg/batch and that of reclaimed tobacco increased by 19.2 kg/batch, and the average reclaiming rate of tobacco raised by 14.2 percentage points. This technology provides a support for promoting tobacco reclaiming rate and decreasing tobacco consumption.
