Abstract:
In order to improve the indoor propagation efficiency of
Anisopteromalus calandrae, the effects of types and concentrations of sugar sources on longevity and reproductive capacity of
A. calandrae were studied by using glucose, fructose, sucrose and honey as sugar sources. The results showed that the longevity of female and male
A. calandrae was significantly prolonged by feeding sugars. The longevity of female and male
A. calandrae fed with honey and fructose was 5.1-6.7 times of the control, and was significantly longer than that under the other treatments. With the increase of sugar concentration, the longevity of female and male
A. calandrae increased first and then decreased. The total number of adult wasps increased to 118.8-130.0, which was significantly higher than that of the control; however, there was no significant difference among different concentrations. When supplemented with 15% (volume fraction) honey water, the number of female progenies was the most (76.7), and the female to male ratio was the highest (2.9). Two sugar sources, honey and fructose, had the most influences on the longevity of
A. calandrae, and the sugar concentration of 15% was the most beneficial for the improvement of reproductive efficiency of
A. calandrae.
