Abstract: Under the historical background of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the development trends of digital empowerment to drive scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation were discussed from different aspects, including big data accelerating the evolution of scientific research paradigm, digital technology promoting industrial technology upgrading, digital transformation hastening industrial economic development and so on. On that basis, according to the development status of tobacco science and technology, the basic advantages and challenges of digital development for tobacco science and technology in China were analyzed, and it is concluded that "digital transformation is the inevitable choice for the innovation and development of tobacco science and technology in China". In the innovation fields of tobacco science big data, digital breeding, intelligent tobacco production, digital design of tobacco products, intelligent cigarette manufacturing, accurate product evaluation, etc., the key directions for the digital development of tobacco science and technology were put forward, so as to provide references for the innovation and development of tobacco science and technology in China.
