Abstract:
In order to remove the waxy portions in supercritically extracted tobacco and to reduce unpleasant flavoring characters of the extracts, Yunyan tobacco absolute oil and its dewaxed product were prepared from Yunnan tobacco leaves with fresh flavor. The waxy components were removed by supercritical CO
2 extraction, dewaxing with alcohol and refrigerated centrifugation. The chemical compositions and sensory properties of each dewaxed fraction were determined by GC-MS analysis and sensory quality evaluation. The results showed that: 1) The efficiency of the dewaxing process was as high as 99.83%. Twenty-one alkanes of C
25-C
33 in tobacco were effectively removed. 2) The sensory properties of the treated extract were significantly improved after dewaxing. 3) The dewaxing process effectively enriched tobacco aroma components, tobacco sterols and natural vitamin E. The dewaxing process with alcohol was considered suitable for the purification of supercritically extracted tobacco.
