Abstract: To avoid the filter plug missing caused by excessive negative pressure of cutting drum, the filter plug supply system in ZJ116B filter cigarette maker was modified by adding a valve to pressure pipe. To ensure that the filter plugs on the shifting drum arrived at their right positions and to prevent the filter plugs on the cutting, grading and accelerating drums from falling, the movement and load analyses of filter plugs were carried out. It was found that if the valve was 5/6 opened and the radius of the vacuum hole in the cutting drum reduced from 1.75 mm to 1.25 mm, the number of missing filter plugs on cutting drum caused by filter plug jamming would decrease significantly. The modified ZJ116B filter cigarette maker was tested on slim cigarette brand "Nanjing(Xuanhemen)" in Huaiyin Cigarette Factory, the results showed that the number of missing filter plugs decreased by 97.59%, and there was no machine shutdown. This technology provides a support for promoting the efficiency of slim cigarette makers.
