Abstract:
To investigate the effects of key cigarette design parameters on cigarette's dynamic draw resistance and its stability, an evaluation method for the consistency of dynamic draw resistance between cigarettes was established. The effects of cigarette manufacturing parameters, auxiliary material design parameters, and the blend ratio of expanded tobacco, expanded cut stem and reconstituted tobacco on the dynamic draw resistance and its stability of cigarettes were studied. The results showed that within the tested range, 1) with the increase of cut tobacco width and tobacco weight, the axial stability of dynamic draw resistance of the cigarette decreased, while it increased with the increase of characteristic length of cut tobacco. With the increase of pocket depth and width of ecreteur, the axial stability of dynamic draw resistance of cigarette decreased, and its consistency between cigarettes improved. 2) With the increase of air permeability of cigarette paper, the axial mean value of dynamic draw resistance of cigarette decreased, while its axial stability increased. With the increase of the total denier of the filter tow, the axial mean value and the stability of the dynamic draw resistance of the cigarette increased, while the consistency between cigarettes decreased. 3) As the blend ratio of expanded tobacco and expanded cut stem increased, the axial mean of the dynamic draw resistance of the cigarette increased, while the axial stability decreased.
