Abstract:
To prevent the formation of melting holes in filter rod made of low denier per filament (LDPF) cellulose acetate (CA) tow, the glyceride atomizing chamber and the tow opening rollers in the ZL26C filter rod maker were modified. The support plate that combs the tow band was removed to prevent the accumulated flyings building up, and the combing function was performed by the guide rollers instead. The guide groove was mirror-finished and had a curved bottom to prevent the formation of large glyceride drips. The distance between the guide groove and the tow band and the opening gaps of the inlet and outlet of the atomizing chamber were experimentally determined to be 0.8 and 1.0 mm, respectively. The hardness of the rubber rollers was SH85A in the opening roller pair, and the speed ratio and rolling pressure were reduced to 1.22-1.25 and 140-160 kPa, respectively, to reduce the formation of flyings. The modified ZL26C filter rod maker was tested on the LDPF CA filter rods for "Yunyan (Soft Ruyi)" brand cigarettes in Honghe Cigarette Factory. The results showed that the number of filter rods with melting holes decreased from 496 rod/d to 0, and the hardness and draw resistance of the filter rods did not change significantly. This technology helps to improve the quality control of LDPF CA filter rods.
