Abstract:
To address the challenges of space requirement for temporary storage of large amount of cigarette packets and laborsome manual handling, a cross-regional logistics transport system dedicating to special size cigarette packets was designed. The system consists of an automatic high rack warehouse, a tray distributor/reclaimer with buffer, overhead belt conveyors, cartoner stations. Every ten full packet trays are combined into a tray group. The tray groups are stored in the automatic high rack warehouse. The tray groups coming out of the warehouse are separated by the tray distributor and delivered to the cartoner stations via the overhead belt conveyors. After the cigarette packets have been picked up, the emptied trays are collected from the cartoner stations and by way of overhead belt conveyors and the tray reclaimer, finally stored temporarily in the high rack warehouse. The designed system was tested on the production line of "Dachongjiu" brand cigarette at Kunming Cigarette Factory. The results showed that the designed system could complete the long-distance transportation and automatic buffering of special size cigarette packets of two different specifications simultaneously, save 9 workers per shift compared with manual transportation, and reduce operational area by about 74%. This technology supports the automation of special size cigarette production.
