Abstract:
To achieve rapid and non-targeted component analysis in licorice extract for tobacco flavoring, a direct injection method for licorice extract samples based on Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) was established through optimization of sample pretreatment conditions and mass spectrometry parameters. The chemical compounds in licorice extract samples were structurally identified using their precise molecular weights and characteristic fragment ions. Similarity analysis, principal component analysis and partial least squares analysis were also conducted on licorice extract samples from different sources. Components with significant contribution to the classification results of licorice extract samples were screened and identified. The results showed that: 1) A total of 36 chemical components were identified, including 1 phenol, 1 triterpenoid, 4 sugars and 30 flavonoids. 2) Licorice extract samples from a single supplier showed high similarity, while samples from different suppliers exhibited quality differences and might also show similar qualities. 3) A total of 24 chemical components with significant contributions to the classification results of licorice extract samples were proposed.
