Abstract:
In order to address the constraints posed by a wide range of seriously damaging tobacco pests and diseases on the sustainable development of tobacco production, based on the data released by the China Pesticide Information Network (as of May 31, 2025), the main registered pest and disease control agents in China were studied, and their effective ingredients, quantities and formulation characteristics were analyzed. The results showed that 766 pest and disease control products covering 14 diseases such as viral diseases, bacterial wilt and black shank and 8 insect pests such as tobacco aphid, tobacco budworm and cutworm had been registered. Chemical products accounted for 62.8% and biological products accounted for 37.2% of the registered products. The main types of pesticide formulation were emulsifiable concentrate, accounting for 37.7% of the registered pesticide products, the main type of fungicide formulations were wettable powders, accounting for 51.7% of the registered fungicide products, the main type of antiviral agent formulation were aqueous solutions, accounting for 48.9% of the registered antiviral agent products, and the main types of nematocide formulations were granules, accounting for 46.7% of the registered nematocide products. The main issues associated with the agent registration were severe homogenization of active ingredients, scarcity of new formulation products and the limited number of registrations for products with new active ingredients. Specifically, for target spot and fusarium root rot which showed increasing incidences in recent years, the number of registered products was limited. Therefore, it is recommended to optimize the registration system to enhance the innovation on active ingredients and promote the development of new formulations to provide effective product support for the green control of current and emerging tobacco pests and diseases.
