Abstract:
During the development of the TJ21 cigar-making machine (a domestically developed machine designed for fully machanized production of all-leaf cigars at 14 cigars/min), a cigar filler forming system with a metered-feeding function was developed to maintain consistent cigar mass. This system consisted mainly of a feeding unit, a gripping unit, a pressing unit, and a forming unit. The material level in the cigar filler reservoir (a core part of the forming unit) was monitored in real time, and the opening angle of the gripper jaws (a core part of the grapping unit) was automatically adjusted to dynamically control the mass of filler picked up per cycle, thereby maintaining a relatively stable mass of material in the reservoir. The pressing unit consisted mainly of a pressing block and a pressing plate, helping maintain a consistent mass of the discharged cigar filler. Tests were conducted using "Taishan" 3G machine-rolled all-leaf cigars produced by Jinan Cigarette Factory. The results showed that the developed cigar filler forming system operated smoothly in the TJ21 cigar-making machine. No quality defects such as loose end or localized bamboo-like bulging attributable to nonuniform or unstable mass were observed in the cigars producted, and 2.7% of the cigars had mass exceeding the specified limit. This technology can support the development for domestic equiment for machine-made cigar production.
