Abstract:
The determination of trace elements and heavy metals in tobacco was reviewed according to operational procedure i.e. sample preparation and analysis. The preparation methods, such as ashing, traditional digestion, microwave digestion, ultrasonic extraction, solid phase extraction, suspension, and the analytical methods, such as spectrophotometry, atomic spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and neutron activation analysis were focused on. It was considered that the creation of standard, fast and accurate methods for determining trace elements and heavy metals in tobacco would be one of the imperative research subjects of the tobacco industry.
