Abstract: An automatic monitoring system for centralized air supplying and dusting of cigarette making and tipping machine combinations was developed with ControlLogix controller and RSView32 man-machine interface software.The network configuration, software design and data communication of this system were introduced, the main functions (monitoring system frames, security, online help, equipment maintenance, alarming, working status trend and flowchart animation)and performances of host computer working station were discussed.The air supplying could be adjusted automatically according to the change of load, the performance of pneumatic systems and operation efficiency of the machine combinations were improved and the energy consumption was reduced accordingly.The monitoring of working status and parameters of this system was fully digitized.
