Abstract:
The effects of the concentration of sodium hydroxide solution, immersing temperature and the amount of salt added during distillation on the yield of nicotine were examined. The results showed that 1) the yield of nicotine decreased with the increase of concentration of sodium hydroxide solution, until the concentration of NaOH reached 8.5g/L, then increased slowly, the highest yield of nicotine was obtained by extracting with water;2) the yield was higherwhen immersing temperature was at 60℃;3) the yield of nicotine was obviously promoted by adding salt during distillation and the tendency was flattened when the content of NaCl was over 13.5g per 10g tobacco.
