Abstract:
For investigating the rate of active substances in traditional Chinese medicines transferring into cigarette smoke, the active substances, praeruptorin A, bergenin and quercetin, in test cigarettes incorporated with extracts of
Radix peucedani,
Ardisia japonica,
Sophofae japonicae and in their smoke were determined by HPLC with TURNER KromasilTM-C
18 column (3.0mm×250mm, 5
μm), using methanol:H
2O (75:25, v/v), methanol:H
2O (20:80), methanol:0.4% phosphoric acid (75:25) as mobile phase (flow rate 1mL/min) at the wavelength of 321nm, 275nm, and 360nm, respectively. The results showed that the transfer rates of praeruptorin A and bergenin into cigarette smoke were 1.01%-1.77% and 0.41%-0.48%, respectively; no quercetin was detected in the smoke.
