Abstract:
The xylose, arabinose, rhamnose, fructose, mannose, galactose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, aspartic acid, asparagine, propylene glycol, glycerol, lactic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, citric acid and phosphoric acid in 21 brands of domestic and imported cigarettes were determined by capillary GC with hydroxylamine and BSTFA+1% TMCS as deriving reagents and sorbitol as an internal standard. The results showed that:1) the relative standard deviations(RSD) of propylene glycol and arabinose were higher than 10%,the RSDs of lactic acid, asparagine, rhamnose, galactose and maltose were form 5% to 10%,and those of other compounds were below 5%;2) the recoveries of all compounds were higher than 80% except that those of malonic acid, galactose, rhamnose, glycerol and arabinose were in the range of 70% to 75%;3) the citric acid, aspartic acid, asparagine, propylene glycol and glycerol in imported blended type cigarettes were higher than those in domestic Virginia type cigarettes, while the sugars in imported cigarettes were lower, and the other components did not show significant difference between the samples.
