Abstract: Granular stem was a kind of processed stem made of short and fragmentary stems, slivers and stem pieces, and possessed higher filling power. In order to investigate its application effects, granular stem was added into Virginia type cigarette. The results showed that using granular stem could increase the filling power of cut tobacco, decrease cigarette tar delivery, reduce tobacco consumption and save production cost, and there was no negative effect on cigarette quality or tobacco loss from cigarette ends.
