Abstract:
In view of the standard method of indicator titration is not applicable to determining ash in cigarette paper in colors other than white, the ash contents in seven colored cigarette paper samples were determined by pH/ISE tester, automatic potentiometric titrator and indicator titration, respectively, and the accuracy, precision, and significance of difference between indicator titration and the other two methods were compared as well. The results showed that:1) the recoveries of the pH/ISE tester and automatic potentiometric titrator ranged from 100.0% to 100.4% and 99.8% to 100.8% with maximum coefficient of variation of 0.62% and 0.96%,respectively;2) the maximum difference of ash content between indicator titration and pH/ISE tester or automatic potentiometric titrator was 0.1% and their difference was not significant at the confidence degree of 95%.Either pH/ISE tester or automatic potentiometric titrator is applicable to determining ash in cigarette paper in white or other colors.
