Abstract:
To study the influence of environmental tobacco smoke(ETS)on indoor air quality,a method for determining 11 VOCs(including 1,3-butadiene,isoprene,acryl nitrile,benzene,toluene,styrene,m-xylene,ethyl benzene, propyl benzene,1,3,5-trimethylbenzene,and limonene)in ETS was developed. The VOCs mentioned above in the air inside the test cabinet were collected by triple adsorbent of Tenax TA,Carbosieve, and Carbotrap and analyzed by thermal desorption/gas chromatography/flame ionization detection. The 11 VOCs in ETS of 10 brands of cigarette were determined. The results showed that:1)the triple adsorbent was suitable for the collection of the 11 VOCs in ETS and the optimum conditions were sampling at 200 mL/min of air flow rate for 30 minutes and desorbed at 300℃ for 10 minutes;2)the recoveries of the 11 VOCs ranged from 85.9% to 98.3% with RSD from 8.5% to 16.8%,limit of detection from 0.28 to 1.58 μg/m3 and limit of quantification from 0.94 to 5.28 μg/m3;3)the contents of the 11 VOCs in ETS between imported and domestic or flue-cured and blended cigarettes showed no significant difference, and the content of isoprene was the highest among the 11 VOCs of all of these cigarettes.
