Abstract:
Decyl phenylacetate was synthesized from phenylacetic acid and 1-decanol with sodium bisulfate as a catalyst. The effects of catalysts(sulfuric acid,p-toluenesulfonic acid and sodium bisulfate) on the esterification ratio were investigated. The composed product was characterized with GC/MS,
1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopies and applied in cigarette as a flavorant. The result showed that the esterification ratio was the highest when sodium bisulfate monohydrate as a catalyst, the product contained decyl phenylacetate up to 95.34%,and the aroma quality, volatility and impact of cigarette smoke were improved by the product.
