Abstract:
The physical characteristics(such as equilibrium moisture content, single leaf weight, per leaf area weight, tensile strength, filling power, cut tobacco yield) and smoking quality of 237 flue-cured tobacco samples harvested in 2006 were determined, and the regression analysis of physical characteristics and smoking quality was carried out.The results showed that the physical parameters in the order of variation were single leaf weight>per leaf area weight>tensile strength>filling power>equilibrium moisture content>cut tobacco yield. The equilibrium moisture content and cut tobacco yield of middle leaf were the highest, followed by lower leaf, and those of upper leaf were the lowest;with the rise of stalk position, single leaf weight, per leaf area weight and tensile strength increased, while filling power decreased. The main factors influencing smoking quality were tensile strength and cut tobacco yield.Tensile strength negatively affected smoking quality, while cut tobacco yield positively correlated with smoking quality.Single leaf weight, equilibrium moisture content, per leaf area weight and filling power had less influence on smoking quality.
