Abstract:
The thermogravimetry and pyrolysis of cigarette paper made from wood and flax pulp were studied with TG-FTIR and PY-GC/MS.The parameters in thermogravimetry test were optimized in terms of sample amount and heating rate, the curves of TG,DTG(Differential Thermogravimetry) of cigarette paper and the profiles of CO
2 produced during paper pyrolysis in different atmospheres were determined and compared. The relative amounts of several representative pyrolysis products of paper at different temperatures were compared. The results showed that the presence of oxygen in carrier gas could significantly affected the thermal decomposition of samples. The unpleasant smoking taste of wood pulp paper might be partly attributed to the relatively higher contents of phenols and benzene in its pyrolysis products.
