Abstract:
In order to investigate the flavoring effects and dose of deoxyfructosazine(DOF) application,the DOF-added samples of flue-cured tobacco,blended flue-cured tobacco,blended burley tobacco,commercial low tar Virginia type cigarette and blended cigarette,and low tar Virginia type cigarette with ventilated filter and that with long filter were evaluated.The pyrolysis products of DOF at 300,600,900℃ and the basic aroma constituents in mainstream smoke of cigarettes applied with DOF were analyzed by GC/MS.The results were as follows:the recommendable doses of DOF for flue-cured tobacco and blended flue-cured tobacco,blended burley tobacco,and low tar cigarettes with ventilated filter or long filter were 20,50-100,and 5-20
μg/g,respectively,at which the smoke aroma was improved,irritation was reduced,and sweetness and aftertaste were increased.The flavoring mechanism of DOF was that a substantial amount of important aroma compounds of pyrazines and pyridines were released from the pyrolysis of DOF during smoking which enhanced smoke aroma and aftertaste.
