Abstract: With the principal component analysis and dynamic stepwise cluster analysis functions of statistical software SPSS(Statistical Program for Social Sciences),the tobacco growing areas in Chuxiong were ecologically regionalized experimented and demonstrated on a GIS platform.The results showed that Chuxiong could be divided into 4 types of tobacco growing area(low altitude hot humid area,middle altitude warm area,high altitude warm/cool area and middle to low altitude hot area) and 1 dry and hot non-tobacco growing area.
