Abstract: The quality potential of tobacco in cigarette brand "HONGQIQU YINHEZHIGUANG" could not be brought into full play when it was dried by cylinder dryer or pneumatic dryer alone,and when the tobacco was grouped and dried by cylinder dryer and pneumatic dryer separately with fixed processing parameters,it cost longer time in production scheduling and more energy consumption.An experiment in which the grouped tobacco was dried by cylinder dryer with varied processing parameters was carried out and compared with the above mentioned processes in terms of the physical characters,sensory quality and smoke indexes of the dried tobacco.The results showed that the tobacco dried by the latest process had higher change rate of long strand proportion(92.6%),the best sensory quality,and better smoke indexes.
