Abstract:
A method for determining 8 heterocyclic aromatic amines(HAAs)in cigarette smoke was developed. The particulate matter of cigarette smoke was extracted with 0.1 mol/L hydrogen chloride+methanol +triethyl amine(v/v=2:1:0.01)mixture solution, cleaned up by a MCX cartridge, separated by a C18 reversed-phase column, and detected by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometer at atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mode and the positive ion mode of multiple reactions monitoring. The 8 HAAs in the smoke of 8 cigarette samples were determined with the developed method, and the results showed that:1)The limits of detection for 8 HAAs ranged from 0.042 to 2.8 ng/cig.,the recoveries were from 68% to 108%,and relative standard deviations were 1.6% to 8.8%;2)MeAαC,AαC,Trp-p-1 and Trp-p-2 were detected in both mainstream and sidestream smoke of all samples;3)The deliveries of MeAαC,AαC,Trp-p-1,and Trp-p-2 were correlated in both mainstream smoke and sidestream smoke,in which MeAαC and AαC,Trp-p-1 and Trp-p-2 were correlated significantly;4)The deliveries of HAAs in sidestream smoke were higher than those in mainstream smoke of all samples but one.
