Abstract: As a solution to the problems existing in the tape drums in filter rod makers and cigarette makers,a new tape drum was designed according to its working principle and structural characters in the development of ZL27 filter rod maker. The tape drum features an integrative disc,the surface of the drum was engraved with figures,matching with the woven texture of the tape to effectively prevent the tape from slipping. The drum is made of die steel instead of cast iron to reduce the wear of the engraved figures and prolong the life of tape drum. The application results showed that the integrated tape drum was stable and reliable in running and free of tape slipping or wearing. The standard deviation of filter rod length is 0.03 mm,the rate of qualified length was up to 100%. With simple,symmetrical and balanced structure,the new designed tape drum effectively reduced vibration,noise and maintenance costs,and improved the equipment's operating efficiency.
