Abstract: Tobacco adhered to elevating belt and spiker was the main reason causing tobacco escape from hopper type feeder after cutting. Therefore,the cleaning brush in the feeder and its driving mode were changed by using a brush with thicker and longer brush hairs and adding a speeding chain to raise its rotation speed. After improvement,the cleaning ability of the brush was improved,escaped matter decreased from more than 45 to about 7 kg/day per feeder,containing less than 1% cut tobacco,and raw material consumption and maintenance work reduced.
