Abstract: In order to study the influences of tipping paper and plug wrapper on the basic aroma components in mainstream cigarette smoke, the basic aroma components in particulate matter and vapor phase of mainstream smoke of cigarettes with tipping paper and plug wrapper of different permeability were determined by GC-MS. The results indicated that: the basic aromatic components with small molecular weight and low boiling point were detectable in both particulate and vapor phases. The permeability of plug wrapper affected basic aroma components slightly, while the effects of tipping paper were significant. With the increase of permeability of tipping paper and plug wrapper, the deliveries of basic aroma components decreased.
