Abstract: To study the testing method for binding property of tear-tape, the basic principles of the methods for testing initial tackiness, persistent tackiness, horizontal peel strength, peel strength at an angle of 90° or 180° were analyzed, and the methods of testing horizontal peel strength, 90° peel strength, 180° peel strength were compared. The results showed that: 1)methods of testing initial tackiness and horizontal peel strength were not suitable for testing the binding property of tear-tape; 2)method of testing persistent tackiness was not appropriate to evaluating the binding property of tear-tape because of longer testing duration; 3)the results of 180° peel strength tests were of low dispersion with a coefficient of variation of 3.5%, lower than those of 90° peel strength test. It suggested that 180° peel strength test method was stabler and more applicable to the characterization of the binding property of tear-tape.
