Abstract:
There exists some problems in measuring the temperature distribution in cigarette burning cone with fine-thermocouples, such as inaccurate thermocouple positioning, thermocouple damaging, tested cigarette distortion and out-of-step between data acquisition system and smoking machine. Therefore, a measuring system was developed by incorporating modularized fine-thermocouple, cigarette pre-perforating with reflective light positioning, insertion depth controlling with micrometer caliper, etc. The results of application showed that:1) The cigarette distortion and fine-thermocouple damage were reduced. 2) The axial and radial positions of thermocouples in tested cigarette were well controlled, and the control precision increased from 0.5 to 0.01 mm. 3) The synchronization of cigarette puffing and data acquisition was linked up by means of a negative pressure trigger, and the repeatability of test results was improved. The system is flexible in operation and features high automation, the effects of subjective factors are effectively reduced, and working efficiency is improved.
