Abstract:
Calcium carbonate was added in the base-sheet of paper-making process reconstituted tobacco, its effects on the physical properties, permeability, microstructure of base-sheet and cigarette smoke index were studied. The results showed that:1) When the adding rate of calcium carbonate increased from 10% to 50%, the tensile index and tear index of base-sheet decreased gradually, while its bulk thickness and air permeability increased slightly. 2) The analysis of permeability of base-sheet indicated that calcium carbonate was beneficial to the formation of porous structure in the surface of base-sheet and liquid's permeating from the surface into the inside of base-sheet, which was helpful to improving the permeability and liquid adsorption performance of base-sheet. 3) At calcium carbonate addition rate of 50%, the deliveries of tar, CO and TPM in mainstream smoke of cigarette manufactured of the base-sheet decreased by 24.29%, 10.75% and 23.25%, respectively.
