Abstract: Besides the species, property and function of SOD, the influence on tobacco growth and the damage to human health of active oxygen free radical, and the applications of SOD for enhancing stress and disease resistance of tobacco and reducing active oxygen free radicals in tobacco smoke were summarized.It was considered that the basal and application researches of SOD in the production of tobacco and cigarette should be strengthened to meet the needs of developing risk-reduced cigarettes.
